Client Service Manager (CSM)

Status/Start Date:  Full time/Immediate

Location: Surrey, BC (Benchmark Business Centre)

Compensation: Salary + Benefits

PHL Capital Corp (“PHL”) is a real estate financing company engaged in managing capital for investing in non-institutional mortgages via a Mortgage Investment Corp (“MIC”) in addition to commercial mortgage brokerage.  PHL’s primary goal is to become British Columbia’s premier provider of real estate focused investments and mortgage loan products. PHL continues to evidence significant growth and is looking to expand its team.

The Client Service Manager (CSM) will work directly with the Mortgage Investment Analyst and Investment Manager and will be an integral component of the team for managing all aspects of the mortgage investment process and assisting in the quarterly fund raising and treasury functions of the MIC.


Job Description

 Team Support – Lending

  • Assist Investment Analyst in reviewing appraisals, contracts to create deal reports to be reviewed by credit committee.
  • Underwriting of mortgage investment files through to funding, including confirmation of pre-funding conditions and security documentation
  • Prepare, organize, and categorize mortgage files in preparation for reviews by directors, banks and auditors.

 Team Support – Investments

  • Assist Investment Manager with quarterly share offerings and reports, including investor forms, investment transfer reports, trustee communications, and process investor redemption’s.
  • First point of contact with investors with initial questions and coordinate with Investment Manager to resolve any requests and issues.
  • Assist with mortgage maturities and renewals
  • Assist with bank runs and deposits
  • Assisting with investment research to target new and profitable investor groups.

Maintain office records

  • Establish and maintain filing systems
  • Ensure protection and security of files and records
  • Follow for outstanding investment documentation

Maintain office efficiency

  • Monitor and manage office inventory

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will work closely with the all team members, including the executives, to work on specifically assigned projects that will require limited supervision but will be critical to ongoing company growth.

The CSM will be able to adapt to the duties and task provided – “no task too big, no task too small” attitude.  There is extensive room for growth as this position continues to develop and expand.



  • Business/Commerce business school training plus 1 -3 years’ experience in real estate, conveyance, mortgage financing, or banking.
  • Strong written and oral skills.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office/Word/Excel/Outlook.
  • Can adapt and think quickly on their feet to make recommendations to the executive.
  • Enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
